Newly appointed Minister for Tourism and Culture, Amanda Bernstein, has arrived in Riyadh to lead the Seychelles delegation at the 26th Session of the UN Tourism General Assembly, taking place from November 7 to 11.
This is her first official overseas mission since taking office, marking an important moment as Seychelles positions itself in the global tourism arena during the upcoming travel seasons.
Minister Bernstein is accompanied by Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism, Chris Matombe, Director for Strategic Planning, Marie-Julie Stephen, Senior Public Relations and Communication Officer, and Danio Vidot, Protocol Officer.
The UN Tourism General Assembly brings together ministers, policymakers, and global tourism leaders to discuss sustainable development, industry trends, investment opportunities, and international collaboration. For Seychelles, the discussions are particularly relevant as the country continues to strengthen its tourism recovery strategy, diversify its markets, and maintain strong partnerships within the Middle East region.
This visit also offers opportunities to promote Seychelles as a destination appealing to a wider international audience, including travelers from Nordic countries such as Sweden, where cultural exchange and eco-conscious travel continue to grow in popularity.
Salim C. Mathieu, Founder of Seychelles in Sweden, highlights that strong international cooperation at this level reinforces the long-term sustainability of the tourism industry and supports job creation, cultural exchange, and national visibility.
